Secondary Edition

The Secondary Edition of our Research to Impact course will provide a deep dive into the most compelling learnings from Cognitive Science as they apply to teaching in a secondary school context. The course will start with a general introduction to Cognitive Science and its implications for engagement and instruction. It will then branch off into separate courses that are tailored specifically to the learning areas of Maths, English, HaSS & Science, and Specialised & Practical subjects.

These courses will be Led by Jordan and Jared, but will also feature experts from those learning areas that have successfully applied the strategies in their respective contexts. This acknowledges the complexities that are unique to each domain, while still promoting collective learnings that can drive whole-school improvement. The research, terminology, and strategies all share a common thread, so teachers across departments can benefit from the same embedded routines.

Jordan and Jared have an outstanding ability to engage staff in the science of learning through their entertaining presentation style. Their exceptional, current knowledge combined with practical examples and lived experience make for a highly informative and valuable learning experience for all staff. Jordan and Jared have been able to tailor professional learning to the needs of my staff and school. Most recently and in response to my request, we were provided with a training video to develop the ability of our staff to deliver effective Spelling Mastery lessons.
