The Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) is one of the nation’s highest honours that recognises extraordinary contributions to Australian society. It celebrates individuals who have gone above and beyond in their fields, leaving a lasting legacy on people’s lives. This prestigious accolade is reserved for only a special few — and we are so proud of our friend Brooke Wardana OAM, who is a 2025 recipient of an Order of Australia Medal.
A proud mother, wife, and teacher, Brooke has devoted nearly 20 years to Education. She has shaped the lives of hundreds of lucky students whom she has directly taught and lifted to great heights. She has also supported thousands of teachers through her demonstrations of high impact teaching, instructional coaching, and professional learning efforts. Brooke is too humble to boast, but she has shaped thousands of lives.
It is one thing to believe in the potential of students and in the power of effective teaching. Many teachers hold these optimistic beliefs. What’s special about Brooke is that she has successfully transformed outcomes for students at multiple schools, in multiple contexts, including some who suffer through extreme disadvantage. Few have walked the walk like Brooke has. The pedagogical knowledge that fuelled these transformations, and the insights she learned from those profound experiences leading change is what she now shares tirelessly with educators all over Australia. She is an absolute legend who inspires so many of us teachers to maximise the time that we have with our students.
