Shaping Minds delivers a professional development series called Research to Impact, designed to help primary and secondary schools to embed explicit instruction and other high-impact teaching practices into daily classroom practice.

We base our professional development out of Perth, Western Australia, but also work with schools, networks and systems all across Australia and New Zealand. We adapt to the needs of the schools we work with, including workshop content, cadence of delivery, and various elements of our coaching and classroom demonstration model.

How schools typically work with Shaping Minds

Every school is different, but most partnerships follow a similar structure.

1. We design a model based on the needs of your school or system
We align our support to the goals and priorities of schools, including timing (e.g. spacing the learning over 12 or 24 months).

2. We build and align knowledge through workshops
We run practical, evidence-based sessions that give teachers clear, usable strategies they can take straight into the classroom.

3. We demonstrate in real classrooms
Teachers see the strategies in action with their own students. This is where the work becomes concrete and actionable.

4. We support implementation through coaching
We observe teachers and provide targeted feedback to help refine their practice. We believe face-to-face coaching is most impactful, but we also offer video coaching on request.

5. We provide a growing suite of high-impact resources
Curriculum guidance, lessons, assessments and daily review.

This approach ensures that professional learning is not just understood, but implemented and sustained.

6. We support schools to establish sustainable in-school coaching
Ongoing coaching is critical for school improvement initiatives to stick. We train instructional coaches, provide resource support, and offer schools a model for sustainable cycles of internal professional learning built on instructional coaching.
